Sensor Data Collection
Prior to developing remediation solutions for water pollution, I evaluated the streams in my community to determine the most critical pollutants and their sources. As a part of that investigation, dissolved oxygen data was collected from 28 locations on seven impaired streams in my city, Bangor, in addition to other sensor and sample data. Other data included phosphorus, conductivity, temperature, pH, flow, discharge, E. coli, total coliforms, and 25 heavy metals. From my investigation, I determined that phosphorus and E. coli were the most critical pollutants and that they were being contributed by stormwater.
